Angel
By Joseph McGowan
They call her angel or so I am told
Not rich with man made treasures
An angel yet bound by earthly ties
Yet blessed with a heart of gold
An angel who brings gifts
In the form of love and compassion
A warm blanket when you’re cold
And a smile to your face as she comforts your soul
They call her angel
Yet to earn her wings and have the gift of flight
Yet she gave a gift more precious
She gave of herself to you as a companion on a cold and lonely night
They call her angel
And today she’s broken those earthly ties
To be free at last to dance in the heavens
And to take her place in the star-lit skies
They call her angel
No longer bound by earthly ties
As she passes through heavens gate a little angel sings
She kneels before the lord and with the grace of god
He welcomes her home, for our angel has finally earned her wings
