AMERICAN HERO
They just don’t make heroes any more.
And all that are left are dying.
For, one of ours has fought his last war.
And now a thousand souls are crying.
For, he’s been called upon one last time by the all-mighty one.
And although for now he leaves his loved-ones behind,
The one’s he’s cherished the most,
After all, it was his time to be with the father and the son and Holy Ghost.
And now he walks with those who have passed before.
To welcome him home, they no longer have to wait.
As they line up across the heavens, As far as the eye can see,
They cheer him on for a job well done
As he passes through heaven’s gate.
Angels fly down by his side to help this man
And as he kneels before the altar the father reaches out and takes his hand.
Welcome home, my son, the lord says,
You’ve lived a wonderful life, yes, you’ve done just fine
And as the lord passes his hand over the man’s head
With the grace of God he turns back the hands of time
He sees again like a young man
And as he walks with the lord his once slow gate now quickens the pace
His heart grows stronger with every step,
His muscles taught
And the lines slowly disappear from his face.
And although on earth the ones’ he’s loved, many tears they will cry
Just remember him each time you look above into the heavens of a star-lit sky
For there he’ll wait for you amidst the stars until the end of time.
So wipe the tears from your eyes
No longer shall you cry
And remember him for all the years you’ve shared
And the way he cared
For, in our hearts he will never die.
No, they just don’t make heroes any more.
And those who are left are crying
But of this you can be sure, he’s at peace now up in the heavens with angels flying
